VIDEO: A Few Words from Albert on Why Art Can’t You
BrotherSister co-founding Brother Albert Perrone used to own a building on Mercer Street in downtown Princeton, W.Va., across from The Room Upstairs. One weekend, Jackson Pollock-like, Albert began flinging multi-colored paints at the building’s ground-floor window. Then, with a razor blade, he proceeded to execute a piece of public art and commentary, borrowing a line from a painting by Fred Babb. This video recounts the creation of Albert’s masterpiece, but his verbal riff on why art can’t hurt you is a masterpiece in its own right. This video was one of four finalists in the “Micro-Film” category (under five minutes) of the 2012 Appalachian Film Festival in Huntington, W.Va. OUr on-stage and balcony adventures at the awards ceremony are captured in a video post at the WestVirginiaVille.com blogazine, titled “Al and Doug don’t win but do get to eat on stage.”

Said it before and I’ll say it again. If anyone starts in on how this or that art is so anti….. (fill in the blank) and how they hate it,
I’ll send them here.
Yes, I have been thinking about transcribing Albert’s wise riff and posting it around.
