The BrotherSisters made somewhat of a formal debut at a house party this past Saturday night on the East End of Charleston, W.Va. At the tail end of their set, in the midst of “Champagne In a Mason Jar,” an arm wrestling match broke about between the party host and a fab West Virginia singer-songwriter in attendance. That’s Brother Douglas with the guitar, thinking: ‘What a cool party this is…’ I believe the match ended in a draw, yes?

The BrotherSisters in full triple-throat mode on “Long Black Veil” — which is what the tambourine Marylin wields is wrapped in. To control the sound of it better in a small place, but also because it’s a, well, long black veil.
